The Tao Te Ching, attributed to the sage Lao Tzu, is the foundational text of Taoism and one of the most translated works in world literature. In 81 brief, poetic chapters, it describes the Tao (the Way) — the ineffable source and pattern of all existence. The text advocates wu wei (non-action or effortless action), simplicity, humility, and flowing with the natural order rather than forcing outcomes. Its paradoxical wisdom inverts conventional thinking: the soft overcomes the hard, emptiness is usefulness, and true leadership is service.

老子に帰される『道徳経』は道教の基礎テキストであり、世界文学で最も多く翻訳された作品の一つです。81の短い詩的な章の中で、道（タオ）── すべての存在の言い表し難い源泉と型 ── を描写します。無為（作為なき行為、自然な行為）、素朴、謙遜、そして結果を強制するのではなく自然の秩序に沿って流れることを説きます。その逆説的な知恵は常識を逆転させます。柔は剛に勝ち、空は有用であり、真のリーダーシップとは奉仕である、と。
五次元経営との接点
「無為にして為さざるなし」── 五次元経営が最も重視する原理の一つです。経営者が力ずくで結果を出そうとする「反応的経営」を手放し、自然な流れの中で最善の判断が生まれる「状態」を整えること。老子の2500年前の教えは、現代の状態設計の最も深い根拠です。
